Representatives from Atmos Energy announced that they are starting the Atmos Energy Scholarship, benefiting students attending the North Central Texas College (NCTC) Bowie campus and taking Industrial Technology courses.

The $15,000 scholarship check was presented at the grand opening of the NCTC Bowie Campus Industrial Technology Center (ITC).

The new ITC building will house Welding, Machining, Industrial Mechanics, HVAC, Electrical and Petroleum Technology.

Atmos Energy Corporation, headquartered in Dallas, is one of the country's largest natural-gas-only distributors, serving over three million natural gas distribution customers in over 1,400 communities in eight states from the Blue Ridge Mountains in the East to the Rocky Mountains in the West.

“I believe the new ITC will bring many opportunities for students,” said Atmos Public Affairs Manager Randy West. “I’m very grateful Bowie could work with NCTC to bring this opportunity to our community. As an employer in the community qualified employees are a tremendous asset for everyone. Our industry needs more welders and employees that are able to use the technology available in the work force today.”
