Members of the North Central Texas College Equestrian teams traveled to Texas Tech University this month to compete in the Texas Tech Intercollegiate Horse Show under the guidance of new Coach, Cathy Luse.

Hannah Penny was able to clench the Reserve High Point Rider award at this show. Rachel Wells won her first Beginner Division award and placed second on the second of show.  Arianne Cox came in second in the Advanced Division and Robert Allison placed fourth in the Intermediate Division.

NCTC’s new coach Cathy Woolsey Luse’s name is familiar to many in the quarter horse and reining horse industries on her own merits and also from being the daughter of Clayton Woosley, longtime American Quarter Horse Association (AQHA) recognized Judge, Trainer and National Reining Horse Association’s Hall of Fame inductee.

Throughout her youth rider years and her professional horse-training career, Cathy has ridden and won numerous prestigious AQHA and National Reining Horse Association (NRHA) awards in a range of events. As a youth rider, she was a two time AQHA High Point Reining Champion.

As a student at Midway University, while attaining her degree in Equine Business Management, Cathy earned the National Championship title in the Open Western Division for the Intercollegiate Horse Show Association.

As an NRHA Professional horse trainer, Cathy won an NRHA World Championship Title. She is also a two time All American Quarter Horse Congress Champion and has been a finalist/placer at many of the major events hosted by the NRHA and AQHA.

Cathy has always been passionate about teaching the next generation of riders. She has enjoyed watching her clients win numerous championship titles in the equine industry as well.

Cathy resides in Whitesboro, Texas with her husband, Van Luse. They own and operate Luse Horses.

To give back to the Industry that has blessed her with so many wonderful experiences, Cathy is a Worldwide Accredited Judge for the National Reining Horse Association, has given many clinics all over the United States and looks forward to her position as instructor at North Central Texas College.
